Welcome to Camp Kamassa

CREATING A BETTER FUTURE FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS LIVING WITH SPECIAL NEEDS:

Camp Kamassa is set on 426 acres in Crystal Springs, Mississippi and has been designed and is being built to accommodate the needs of and cultivate belonging for campers who live with and face various illnesses and challenges. We partner with different organizations and have programming held at Camp Kamassa year-round to serve these needs. Some of these diagnoses include or will include asthma, spina bifida, cancer, HIV, muscular dystrophy, diabetes, brain injuries, hemophilia, Tourette syndrome, autism, transplant recipients, arthritis, visual and hearing impairments, developmental disabilities, sickle cell disease, Celiac disease, Crohn's and colitis, just to name a few. Our lake, 8-duplex cabins, 6-family cabins, open-air recreation pavilion, multi-purpose activity building, pool, chapel, maintenance barn, cafeteria and infirmary building, and recreation field are all complete, and our star-gazing/campfire site is underway. We are excited about a future rock wall (2026), amphitheater, ropes course, equestrian center, playgrounds, and so many more exciting things to follow! The future looks bright at Camp Kamassa.

INTENTIONALITY:

Though on the outside it may look like traditional camping with swimming, canoeing, field games, and arts and crafts, every aspect of this campus has been planned and is being constructed to meet the needs of guests living with special needs, disabilities, and medical conditions. The facility is barrier-free with flat, paved surfaces, wide doorways, and space to maneuver and enjoy the many different activities and spaces. All activities are being selected so that ALL can participate and have a place to enjoy.

A DREAM COME TRUE!

CAMP KAMASSA'S FIRST SUMMER

Summer 2025 marked a historic milestone as Camp Kamassa opened its gates for the very first time! Hundreds of campers with medical conditions and special needs experienced the joy, freedom, and fun of camp in a place built just for them. From fishing and creek "hikes" to arts, swimming, and campfires, every moment was filled with laughter, courage, and connection.

THE PARTNERSHIP CAMPING MODEL

Camp Kamassa is set to become a year-round host facility, collaborating with numerous partners to fulfill our mission. These partners include healthcare organizations, schools, and other non-profit groups, who will undertake camper recruitment and the sourcing of necessary medical and support staff. Additionally, they will supply counselors who will oversee camper accommodations during the night in the cabins.

The seasoned and knowledgeable staff at Camp Kamassa will take charge of activity organization and supervision. We will also ensure the provision of snacks and meals, which can be customized to accommodate special dietary requirements. Moreover, air-conditioned cabins will be provided for all campers and staff, along with access to our Health Center.

Are you a parent, relative, or friend of a child or adult whom you’re considering for attendance?

We encourage you to reach out to your organization and express your interest in Camp Kamassa. Your involvement could be instrumental in bringing a partnership to fruition! Alternatively, you can even organize your own camp, as many camps have begun this way. If you require assistance or have any inquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact our camp director, Andrew Vincent, at campdirector@campkamassa.com or by calling 601-892-1117.

We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to meet your camper(s) and provide them with an extraordinary camping experience. Our goal is to help them connect with peers who share similar challenges, fostering meaningful connections, and unforgettable memories.
